Frying Pan Farm Park

Whew... we've been busy! 

We've had visitors every weekend this month, and amazing Spring weather. 

This weekend, Grandpa and Grandma Nelson came to visit from Bellingham, Washington. 

Saturday was a beautiful day - nearly 80 degrees!  It was the perfect day to check out Frying Pan Farm Park in Reston. 

Frying Pan is a Fairfax County park with an operating, historic farm, and Saturday was the annual "Baby Farm Day" where they bring out all the baby animals born over the winter and spring. 

We saw cows, chicks, piglets, horses, goats, sheep, and bunnies.  Malcolm thought it was the best.thing.ever.  He was so consumed by delight at each animal, and threw a little tantrum everytime we moved on, only to light up with delight at the next friend he found.  I think his favorite was this cow that was standing so close to the fence that Malcolm could pet her!

They both liked the sheep a lot too.  Lucinda stuck close to Daddy, but I think Malcolm would have  happily climbed right in there with them if the fence rails were a little farther apart!

Lucinda's favorite part was the miniature tractors they have set up for kids to sit on. 

She loved "driving" them.

We all had a great time (even Blue Dog came along for the adventure!)

We spent the rest of Grandpa and Grandma's stay at home, playing and visiting. 

Malcolm took a real shine to my dad, which was very sweet. 

They left this morning.  It was a short visit, but we're so glad they were able to come see us!
