Ten Months

Lucinda & Malcolm are TEN months old! 

They are growing so fast.  I can see them turning from babies into little toddlers right before my eyes.  It's awesome to watch them learn new things and study the world around them. 

It seems like every day they figure out something new, much to their delight.  Today, for example, they both started clapping!  They were both so excited to show me this new trick when I got home from work today.  Amazing.

I can't believe we're already planning their first birthday party - the past few months have really flown by.  I guess it's true - time does fly when you're having fun.  And we're sure having a lot of fun around here these days!

At ten months, Malcolm Walter...

• weighs about 24 pounds, is wearing mostly 12-18 month clothes and size 4 diapers.
• is working on his 7th and 8th teeth. He's been handling it fairly well, although it's caused us all some sleepless nights.

• eats 26-30 oz of formula a day, plus three meals.  He still thinks mandarin oranges are the best thing in the world, although he's recently discovered he's also a fan of rice and beans, hummus and beef stew.
• is quite the mama's boy.  He demands that I pick him up as soon as I enter the room, and gets very mad if I put him down and try to leave.  He speed crawls to me, pulls up on my leg and yanks frantically on my pants until I lift him up into my arms.

• is starting to cruise the furniture.  He'll even step from the table to you if you're sitting nearby, or walk a bit holding your hands, but he's not quite as steady on his feet as his sister.
• found his voice last week, and yelled at us for two days straight to make up for lost babbling time.
• is really starting to look like a little boy.  Maybe it's his "big boy" clothes, or maybe it's that he's standing now, but whatever it is, my tiny baby boy has disappeared!  At ten months, Malcolm is a sweet, sensitive, persistent and generally jolly young chap.  He's equal parts gentle and "bam bam," with a giant heart and a belly laugh that just kills you. 

At ten months, Lucinda Jean...

• weighs around 18 pounds, is wearing 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers.
• is still working on her second tooth.  Her teeth come in very slowly, much like mine did. 

• eats 23-25 oz of formula a day, plus three meals. Lucinda discovered her favorite food this month - turkey meatballs! Add some cheese ravioli and a little pesto and Lucinda is a happy girl. 
• loves books.  She likes to turn the pages and look at the pictures, and tonight she discovered that she can pet the animals in her "touch and feel" book.

 

• is experimenting with standing for short periods without support, can climb the stairs, and walks if you hold her hands.  She's also starting to cruise around the furniture and loves to walk with her new dinosaur pal.
• loves to take books and DVDs off shelves, and clothes out of drawers and laundry baskets and throw them on the floor.  We're always telling her how "helpful" she is.  This is seriously her favorite activity, and she can spend all day doing it.  Malcolm joins in the fun sometimes, too.

 

• is full of energy and giggles.  It's so funny to think back to when she was itty bitty and had such bad reflux and was grumpy all the time, then look at her now - all smiles, laughter and mischevious energy.  At ten months, Lucinda does not stop moving, is adventerous, fearless and utterly silly.
