Eleven Months

Malcolm and Lucinda are ELEVEN months old!

I can't believe that we're just one month away from their first birthday!!

They are so active and are into everything these days.  They're emptying cabinets, pulling things off tables, climbing on boxes and generally leaving a hurricane-like mess in their wake.  And they are having a blast.

At 11 months, Lucinda Jean...

  • weigh 18-19 lbs, wears 9-12 month clothes, and size 3 diapers.
  • takes 2 naps a day and sleeps 12 hours through the night.
  • eats anywhere from 16-30 oz of formula a day, plus three meals and a snack.  She's had a great appetite lately.  Her favorite foods are meatballs, waffles with applesauce, bananas and ravioli.

  • is SO CLOSE to walking.  She can stand on her own for long periods, and over the past week, has been taking one or two tentative steps.  I think she can walk, and now she just needs to get the confidence to give it a try.
  • loves to be flipped upside down.  When you hold her, she leans backwards until she flips all the way over and does a backflip down to the ground.  She has also discovered that she can climb into her bouncy seat and bounce up and down.  Her method of getting in isn't the most graceful, but it's effective.

  • has become attached to her stuffed pink puppy.  She carries it around the house and insisted on taking it with her to Target.  She also likes the three puppies that talk when you squeeze them (Scout, Violet and the Fisher Price Laugh 'n Learn puppy I've named Clucksy Ducksy).  Her way of "squeezing" them to make them talk looks a lot like CPR.

  • is really sweet and affectionate.  She leans in and gives you big, wet, sloppy kisses when you ask her for a kiss.

 At 11 months, Malcolm Walter...

  • weighs 24-25 lbs, wears 18 month clothes, and size 4 diapers
  • takes 2 naps a day and sleeps 12 hours through the night

  • eats 24-32 oz of formula a day, plus three meals and a snack.  He's become a bit of a picky eater, and would eat only fruit and vegetables if he could.  He is OBSESSED with bluebereries lately, although mandarin oranges are still a favorite, and strawberries are a close third.  He also likes peas, carrots, and beans.

  • started standing on his own (not holding on) and is cruising all around the furniture and speed crawling all over the house.
  • has gotten really tall, and has discovered he can reach the kitchen table and other high furniture, and pull stuff off.  I found him yesterday afternoon sitting on the kitchen floor surrounded by a sea of the weekend ads from the Washington Post, trying to decide what he wanted from Best Buy.

  • has started carrying blankets around with him.  He seems to prefer the yellow ducky blankets, but will drag his sleep sack all over the place too.

  • has been cracking up with big belly laughs all day long.  He's still a mama's boy, but he thinks his daddy is absolutely hilarious.

I can't believe the first year is almost over.  We've mailed the invitations for their birthday party, and our downstairs bedroom is quickly filling up with party decorations and presents from us and their grandparents.  What an amazing year it's been.  We are so blessed.
