Mimi and Poppy retired last year and packed up and moved to Tennessee, where their days are filled with gardening, golf, mahjong and pickleball, and their evenings are spent on the lake or on their new deck overlooking the eighth hole of the golf course. It's a rough life.
In mid-June, the kids and I packed up and hit the road to visit them (Matt was flying out to join us mid-week). Nine and a half hours later, we arrived! Their new house is beautiful, especially the huge new deck they built on overlooking the golf course. We had a great week visiting, playing, swimming, and exploring.
Among the highlights...
A visit to the beach and playground at Tellico Lake:
Bubbles and bike rides with Mimi:
Popsicles!
On Thursday, after Matt joined us, we made a special trip to Chattanooga
to visit the Tennessee Aquarium, which was fantastic:
Lucinda especially loved the butterfly garden at the aquarium:
On our last day, we made a trip over "the big green bridge" to a lakefront playground where the kids decided the sand volleyball court made a great sandbox:
It was really hot while we were there, so we also spent a lot of time cooling off at the pool and playing inside. After a week, it was time to pack up again and drive home.
We had a great time at Mimi and Poppy's new house, and can't wait to visit again!
