We had a great time visiting Santa Claus this year!
The morning we planned to go see him, Malcolm and Lucinda woke up and ran off to find Apple as usual. They were surprised to see that he had brought them new outfits to wear to meet his friend Santa!
I wondered how they'd do with Santa this year - in the past Malcolm has been terrified of him, and Lucinda only got on board last year. This year they were really excited to see him and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.
When it was our turn, they were ready! Lucinda ran up to him and shouted "hey Santa! ho ho ho!" which drew a big belly laugh from the big man. They told him their names and he asked them if they'd been good. When they said yes, he asked what they wanted for Christmas and Malcolm told him he'd like "baby cars and a mat for them to drive on" and Lucinda said she wanted a "singing pickle." Then they climbed up on his lap and cheesed it up for the pictures.
After Santa, we took advantage of being at the mall to stop at Stride Rite for some new shoes. I picked out some very sensible, machine washable sneakers for Lucinda but she was having none of that once she caught sight of the purple, sparkly, light-up Frozen shoes. Sigh.
Uncle Adam was in town for his work holiday party, and Aunt Julia and Taylor came along so we could celebrate Christmas with them. We had a nice lunch at the Yard House and then spent the rest of the day playing at home. Malcolm and Lucinda had a great time playing with Taylor!
