We weren't able to take a weeklong vacation this summer (too much happening with work and Aunt Elena's upcoming wedding), but we were able to squeeze in a long weekend at the beach over Labor Day! Like last year, we went to Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, Delaware. This year we stayed on the tennis community side where we had a beautiful three bedroom condo on a lake, with a big porch (complete with swing) and wrap-around lake views. Walking distance to a pool and a playground, and a quick five minute drive to the beach or downtown Bethany made it the perfect spot for our four-day getaway.
After lunch and a short walk on the beach, we hit the playground Friday afternoon while we waited to be able to get into (as Lucinda called it all weekend) "my new beach house".
After naps and a grocery run, we kicked off the first night of vacation in traditional summer dining style - hot dogs, corn on the cob, and watermelon, eaten outside and messy. Look at these big kids!
Saturday and Sunday mornings were spent at the beach. Malcolm and Lucinda loved digging in the sand, building sandcastles, collecting seashells, and playing in the water. We took breaks to walk up to the pool, play on the beach playground, and enjoy snacks of frozen grapes, cheese and crackers.
After naps on Saturday, we headed down to Ocean City to check out the boardwalk. Of course we needed Thrasher's Fries and Dumser's Ice Cream. That's a healthy dinner for 2 year olds, right? We walked out the boardwalk and they loved looking at all the rides, people and lights.
We had a great time at the beach, but wish we could have stayed longer. We can't wait for next summer!
