First Day of Preschool

Malcolm and Lucinda started preschool today!  

They were so excited to go to school.

When we got to school, they both went in happy and smiling and gave their teacher, Ms. Lisa, a big hug before she helped them hang up their backpacks on their little hooks with their names on them outside their classroom.  They are in the Bunnies class.  Its' a small class - only six kids - which I think is helping make it less overwhelming for them.

They were having so much fun playing with all the new toys and Ms. Lisa that it was hard to get their attention to say good-bye.  I was worried they would cry when we left, or that they wouldn't nap at all, or would have a rough time.  But they proved me wrong and had such a good day!  They only cried once, when they woke up from their naps confused about where they were, but they bounced back quickly.  When we picked them up this afternoon, they were so excited to see us, and ran up shouting "Mama/Dada, you came back!  My mama/dada came back!" (they've started calling us "Mama/Dada" when we're together, like we're a unit).  They couldn't wait to tell us about all the fun they had today, and were in the best moods all evening.  

I was so worried this transition would be tough (and maybe it still will be), but today really could not have gone any better.  I am so proud of them, and what big, independent, confident kids they have become.  Fingers crossed the rest of the week goes as smoothly!
