We are in the midst of a major upheaval around here. Lucinda and Malcolm start preschool on Monday! While there are many exciting things to be said about this, it also means we had to say good-bye to their wonderful nanny, Miss Emmaline, this week. Emmaline has watched M&L four days a week since they were four months old. She is like a part of our family.
Over the past two years, Malcolm and Lucinda have learned so much from Emmaline - colors, numbers, letters, manners, silly songs and dances - and they have been so very loved. Which is the best we could ask for. We hope she will remain part of their lives, as a friend and babysitter, for many years to come, but it will be sad not seeing her every week.
I know Lucinda will miss her "Semmewine", and will miss singing "Moves Like Jagger" with her in the car, and flying kites at the park.
And I know Malcolm will miss his "Yi-Yi", who took him to see firetrucks and airplanes and play with trains, and who was always there to give him an ugga-mugga eskimo-kiss whenever he needed some extra snuggles.
The next family Emmaline works for will be so lucky to have her.
I know we were.
