34 weeks & the "D" word

This morning we went to the MFM for our 34 week appointment. Today's appointment was another non-stress test and a quick ultrasound to check the babies' fluid and position.

The NST went well - both babies looked great and are moving around like crazy. Frickle had hiccups during a lot of it, which was pretty funny since you can hear movement through the speakers.

The ultrasound was a little more exciting than we had bargained for... We've known for a while that Frack has a lot more amniotic fluid than Frickle does, but it turns our that hers has been decreasing week after week while his has been increasing. The tech was only able to measure Frickle's fluid pocket today at 2.2 cm, so she called the doctor in to repeat the test. She was able to find one larger pocket of fluid (around 4), but wasn't able to replicate that measurement so didn't have a lot of confidence in it. Apparently 2 is the cut-off for "deliver now", so we're very close to that. However, because she's moving around like she should and her heart rate looks great, the doctor didn't think it was go time just yet. But, combined with Frickle's smaller weight and small belly measurements, it sounds like we're very close to the time when she'll be better off as an outside baby. Frack on the other hand has too much fluid, which is its own issue, but not one that's as concerning at this point.

So.... Dr. Reyes predicts we'll be having the babies in the next week! She asked us to come back on Thursday morning to repeat these tests, and told us to come "prepared to be admitted." My OB - Dr. Lashgari - will have the final say in whether we should deliver right away or not, depending on the test results. So we'll see, but we may be meeting our babies very soon!
