Leaving on a Jet Plane

Last weekend, we took the babies on their first airplane trip to visit and meet their family in Ohio!

Aunt Elena hadn't seen Lucinda and Malcolm since they were 3 weeks old, but got lots of snuggle time this weekend!

And we had lots of fun with Mimi and Poppy, too!

Aunt Jodi and Aunt Pam were more than happy to hold and cuddle the babies!

They met my cousins too! Malcolm was a big fan of Donnie.

On Saturday, we had our baby shower at Aunt Jodi's house. The shower had originally been planned for November, but had been postponed indefinitely when I went on bedrest. We had a wonderful time, and the babies got to meet so many family members! Thanks so much to my Aunts - Jodi, Pam and Linda - for putting together such a fun day for us! And we received so many wonderful gifts! Thanks to everyone who came out!

As for the travel itself, we were pleasantly surprised by how well things went at security and at the airport in general. The flights, though, were another story. Considering the delays we experienced, the babies did pretty well on the flights. On the way out, we were stuck on the plane for an hour and a half sitting on the runway before we took off. They started to get pretty tired and fussy after an hour or so, and there were some mini-meltdowns, but in general, they did pretty well. On the way back, we had a two hour delay! At least we were in the airport, rather than on the plane, so they could sleep in their carseats (which we gate checked) for a while. They slept most of the flight home, once we finally got going.

While we loved seeing everyone, it was an exhausting trip, and we are all glad to be back home and back to our normal routine. I think we'll wait unti they're a bit older before we venture into the air again.
