We left around 8:30 am, after the babies had their first bottle and bananas & oatmeal for breakfast. They did great for the first half of the drive, and we stopped at a rest stop just after we entered Pennsylvania to feed them again.
Unfortunately, the second half of the drive up was not as smooth, and we arrived at Matt's grandparent's house in the midst of an epic double meltdown. Malcolm cried himself out and took a very long nap, so he missed the first half of the party, but he woke up in a great mood and charmed everyone, as we knew he would.
Lucinda took longer to recover from her meltdown, and would cry whenever anyone other than Mommy or Daddy came within 2 feet of her. I was eventually able to get her to nap, and she woke up in a much better mood, put on her party hat and showed everyone how sweet she can be.
She also showed everyone what happens when you blow raspberries while eating your carrots.
Malcolm & Lucinda got to spend time with lots of relatives, including two of their great-grandmothers and their great-grandfather. Here they are with Great-Grandma Gadomski and Great-Grandma Ross:
The drive home was pretty uneventful. We left around their bedtime, and they slept pretty much the whole way home (although Malcolm would only settle down and stay asleep if I sat in back with him and held his hand). They went straight into their cribs when we got home, and Malcolm slept through the night again - twice in one week! Lucinda was pretty off again all day today. She's generally less adaptable than Malcolm, and doesn't take kindly to disruption in her routine. We're also wondering if she's teething. We can't see anything yet, but we'll keep an eye on her.
All in all, despite it being a very long day, we had a great time and really enjoyed seeing everyone!
