Some unexpected firsts

This week, Lucinda and Malcolm celebrated some unexpected firsts - their first earthquake and their first hurricane! Obviously neither is very common in Virginia, and two in one week is crazy. The earthquake knocked one picture off a shelf, but the hurricane knocked out our power for about 12 hours. On Saturday, we spent a very rainy day playing inside, and headed to bed just as the wind and rain were really kicking up.




We woke up this morning in the dark. The power had gone out about 1 am (which made the middle of the night feedings extra fun) and it didn't come back on until around noon. Never fear, though, Malcolm was all over the flashlight situation!

Needless to say, after all the rain we had Friday and Saturday, they were both very excited to get out of the house this afternoon to visit their friends Chloe and Sophie and go for a walk in the post-hurricane sunshine!

After this exciting week of natural disasters, we're looking forward to a quiet week followed by a fun Labor Day weekend - Mimi, Poppy and Great Grandma Mueller are visiting, and Malcolm and Lucinda are turning 6 months old!
