Fall Family Fun

After a very rainy week, we were rewarded with perfect fall weather all weekend!  And, as a bonus, Matt took Friday off so we all had a three day weekend to enjoy it.

Friday night and Saturday morning were busy getting the new playroom set up.  On Saturday afternoon, after we finished, we celebrated with the babies' first trip (and ours) to Huntley Meadows Park for a walk before dinner.

Huntley Meadows is a nature preserve only a few miles from our house, and we've been meaning to check it out for a while.  It was beautiful!  It's preserved marshland, with trails and a boardwalk over the marsh, perfect for an evening walk.

This morning, the babies spent some time enjoying their new playroom (and their new hats!) before we ventured out to get pumpkins!

For pumpkins and fresh apple cider, we headed to Nalls Produce, a local produce and garden center.

Malcolm and Lucinda each picked out a baby pumpkin and a mini regular pumpkin (Malcolm licked his baby pumpkin, so we figured we had to buy it), and we bought three big carving pumpkins that we'll save for Aunt Elena's visit just before Halloween.  I also picked up some fresh, local squash and sweet potatoes to cook for the babies, and some delicious Pennsylvania apple cider.  After we loaded our goodies into the car, we headed home for naps, followed by some playtime in the front yard.

Lucinda climbed our Japanese maple tree for the first time (with a little help from Daddy).

While the babies took their afternoon nap, Matt and I enjoyed fresh apple cider and cinnamon donuts.  A great end to a great, fall weekend!
