Oxon Hill Farm

Malcolm and Lucinda have been sick much of this week with a mild cold.  Lucinda had a fever yesterday and was all out of sorts, so I was preparing to spend much of our Memorial Day weekend resting at home.  I took her to the doctor on Friday to rule out an ear infection, but it was just a virus that needed to run its course.  Luckily, she woke up this morning, fever free, and in great spirits, so off we went!

We kicked off the holiday weekend with a Saturday morning trip to check out Oxon Hill Farm, just across the river in Maryland.

There weren't a lot of animals - a few cows and roosters, one huge turkey, and a goat and a sheep hiding inside from the heat - but the kids didn't seem to care.  There was lots of space for them to run around and play in the grass, which they loved.

We had the entire place to ourselves until just before we left when another family (also with twins) joined us to watch them milk the dairy cow.

It was a fun place to spend the morning - while there's not a lot to do, there's a lot of space to run around, it's free and it's only 15 minutes away.  Next time maybe we'll bring a picnic lunch - it'd be a great spot for that.  It would also be a pretty place to take professional family pictures sometime in the future.
