Summertime

I know it's not technically summer yet, but it sure feels like it around here.  It was 90 degrees today, and humid.  After a morning at Ben Brenman park and the farmer's market, we decided to go out and pick up a few more summertime backyard toys!

First stop was Costco, for this sandbox/picnic table combo.  Malcolm loved the sand (although he did try to eat it).  Lucinda is skeptical, and prefers to sit at the picnic table holding her shovel and watch.  Hopefully this will give her lots of time to warm up to the stuff before our beach vacation at the end of the summer.

We also picked up a new pool!  Perfect for cooling off on such a hot day, and for rinsing off all that sand.  Lucinda is a much bigger fan of the pool - that girl loves water!

Finally, we got this Sports Climber.  I wanted to get them a small slide, and this one's great because it's small enough to go outside or inside (which will be great for really hot summer days, and for the winter).  In addition to the slide, it has a mini basketball hoop, soccer goal, and a hole to throw a football through, and it came with toddler size basketball, soccer ball and football.  Now, we just need to teach them that you can go down a slide.  They both prefer to climb up it.

Whew!  Today was busy!  Add in music class and Sunday night family dinner at a restaurant, and we're wiped.  Malcolm and Lucinda went right to sleep, and I think Matt and I will be pretty close behind them.  At least it's a long weekend, so we still have Monday to rest and recover.
