Merry Christmas

Despite the fact that we were all sick, Christmas was so fun this year!  The kids started to "get it" for the first time, and they were super excited about leaving cookies for Santa.  And Lucinda made sure we didn't forget carrots for Rudolph.  When they woke up in the morning, they were so delighted to find the cookies and carrots had been eaten and that Santa had been to our house.

Christmas morning was chaotic, but that's to be expected with small children with enthusiasm that greatly exceeds their attention span.  They wanted to play with the first toy they got, and kept forgetting there was more.  Malcolm decided after a few minutes that he wanted to go downstairs and play with his trains, and threw a major tantrum when Matt tried to get him to come back up and open his presents.  Silly boy.  But he came around thanks to a lot of new trucks/planes/trains to play with.

Santa brought Lucinda twin baby dolls, with a stroller, a cradle, diaper and feeding accessories.  And a giant stuffed carrot.  He brought Malcolm a giant fire truck, a bulldozer, and a take-apart airplane.  He loved his big fire truck.  And Lucinda was quite the fan of her new sleeping bag from Mimi and Poppy.

Mimi, Poppy, Aunt Elena and Uncle Jim were here on Christmas, and we had a relaxing day at home filled with good food, good wine, and good company.

Grandma and Pap came on Friday to celebrate Christmas with us.  Unfortunately, by then I had a full blown sinus infection and was exhausted and generally feeling pretty awful.  We spent Saturday at Uncle Todd and Aunt Wendie's house, and made a trip out to the National History Museum, but I was feeling so sick that I didn't even have the energy to take pictures until the morning they left :(

I finally took down the holiday decorations yesterday, which is just about the most depressing thing ever.  The house looks so bare and now we're entering the blahs of winter, and it's so cold!  But there's good news.... Lucinda is 90% potty trained, all on her own initiative!  More on that soon.
