I had promised Lucinda that when she used the potty all the time and was done with diapers, we'd make her bed into a "big kid bed" so she could get in and out all by herself. Well, it's now more than two weeks since she decided she was going to potty train herself, and I think it's safe to say that she's fully day and night trained. Woo hoo! Even with Malcolm still in diapers, we feel like we change diapers so much less frequently now.
So, it was time to make good on our big kid bed promise. In case we were thinking of backing out, in the past week, both Malcolm and Lucinda started climbing out of their cribs regularly, and they spent nap time today wrestling on their floor instead of sleeping after they both hopped out of their cribs like it was nothing. So, it was time.
During...
After...
They have such different approaches to change. Lucinda loves the idea of change. She got so incredibly excited about her new bed. But when it came time to go to sleep, she was not so sure. Malcolm, on the other hand, went into all out rebellion mode when we started to disassemble his bed. But when we got to bedtime, he happily climbed in, listened to three rounds of "How to Train a Train" and went to sleep.
The end result. One boy, peacefully sleeping in his bed.
One girl, passed out on the floor after her 10th time trying to escape.
