Bethany Beach (Part 1)

We are enjoying a lovely, relaxing week in Bethany Beach.  This is our third summer vacationing at Sea Colony and we are having a blast.  This was the first time the kids were excited ahead of time, and really understood where we were going and what we were going to do.  They have been telling their preschool teachers for weeks that we were going to the beach and kept asking when we were going. The night before we left it took them forever to fall asleep because they were so excited.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon and went down for a quick trip to "say hi to the ocean" before checking into our condo.  While we were on the beach, Malcolm had fun chasing the water in and out as the waves came up, and Lucinda and I buried our legs in the sand and then built "Rapunzel's tower" out of sand.

Once we got settled in, I went to the grocery store while Matt took the kids to the playground, and then we had our traditional first day of summer vacation dinner of hot dogs, macaroni salad, corn and watermelon.  Lucinda even set the table!  She was so proud of herself.  She also ate two hot dogs, an ear of corn, and a ton of watermelon.  Hungry girl.

We woke up early on Sunday and hit the beach.  The first hour was a bit rough while Malcolm threw a major tantrum set off by sunscreen allegedly in his eyes, but he eventually rallied and we all had fun.

Sad Malcolm :(

Proof he is not scarred for life by being forced to play on the beach:

After a picnic lunch on the beach, we headed back and the kids took mega naps while Matt and I played Trivial Pursuit (circa 1981) and enjoyed a bottle of wine.

The kids slept until 5 or so, and then (after they played a few rousing rounds of "make patterns with the connect four pieces") we headed into town for pizza at Grotto's.

Post-dinner, we checked out and danced to the band playing on the boardwalk and took a walk on the beach before grabbing some ice cream and heading home for the night.

Monday we woke up and headed for the beach again.
This time, everyone was in a great mood and we had a blast.

We had to drag them off the beach after lunch.  It's a good thing we did, though, since it started pouring right after we got back to the condo.  We spent the afternoon watching movies and playing games, and then rode bikes to the playground for a bit before dinner.

We finished off the day with dinner and a movie (Finding Nemo).

Stay tuned.... there's lots more fun to come as the week continues!
