Grandma and Pap came to celebrate Christmas with us from December 20-23.
On Thursday night before bed, the kids opened their stocking bags from Grandma and Pap. The Mickey hats were a big hit. Malcolm and Lucinda are obsessed with Mickey & Minnie right now. When I ask Lucinda if she wants to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, she shouts "and Minnie too!" Other big hits were plastic light-up spinning things (that's their technical name, I'm sure), and harmonicas.
Lucinda spent the rest of the evening making Pap use his belt to pull her around and around the house on her dinosaur while Malcolm followed along on his car.
We spent Friday morning playing at home with Grandma and Pap while Daddy went to work. Lucinda picked out the "no-man" shirts I made for both her and Malcolm to wear (she loves to pick out clothes).
For Christmas, Grandma and Pap got Lucinda a dollhouse. She loves it (and so does Malcolm)! She especially loves moving the people up and down the stairs, talking to them, and tucking them into the beds. It's great to watch her imagination develop.
Grandma & Pap gave Malcolm a space station and rocketship for Christmas. He loves to listen to the countdown, then flies the rocket ship around the living room making "zoom" sounds, and loves sending the aliens down the slide of the space station and putting the astronauts into the cockpit of the rocket.
On Saturday we went to Todd and Wendie's house for brunch, and got to spend the day with them, as well as Wendie's parents, Aunt Linda, Uncle Adam and Aunt Julia. The kids loved feeding their dog, Spirit, and Malcolm must have eaten 456 crackers, since the basket was within his reach. They opened more presents and loved having such a big audience to ham it up for in a spontaneous dance party.
While the kids napped, the grown-ups had a white elephant gift exchange, featuring such gems as a "hippo attack coffee mug" and a yodeling pickle. We're so glad we were able to celebrate Christmas with everyone!
