We went to a party yesterday and on the way out, the kids caught sight of a little three-wheeled scooter that one of the bigger kids had left out front, and insisted that they get to ride it. Lucinda took to it like a champ! Malcolm had a bit more trouble getting a hang of how to push with his foot, but he loved it nonetheless. So this morning while I was out running errands, I popped into Target on a whim and picked two Radio Flyer "my first scooters". When they got up from their naps, I told them we had a surprise for them, and then gave them a clue:
Malcolm took a bit more convincing than Lucinda on the helmet, but like her, he was super excited when he saw the scooters, and eventually agreed that the helmet was an acceptable price to pay for getting to ride on it.
While they still have a bit of work to do to get the mechanics down, they had a great time pushing them around the driveway until it started to rain.
The sign of a good time, as we headed inside because it started to rain:
"Need my gooter back! Need my gooter back! Need my gooter back!"
