We kicked off Easter weekend with a fun family Friday night:
dying Easter eggs, grilling, and a family game night.
We played the Ladybug Game, which the kids got from Uncle Todd and Aunt Wendie for Christmas. They both love it, although Malcolm is convinced that he must always be winning, so if anyone else pulls into the lead, he promptly moves his piece ahead of theirs and declares himself in the lead. I think it's funny. It drives Matt absolutely crazy.
Once the kids went to bed, the Easter Bunny paid us a visit. The kids were really excited on Thursday before school when we looked out the front window to see a bunny sitting in our front yard. They just knew he was the Easter bunny and he'd come to figure out where to hide their eggs...
On Sunday morning we got up and they found their Easter baskets. The bunny brought them swimsuits, watering cans, coloring & sticker books, crayons, play cameras, and chalk, along with some small stuff and candy. And he brought Lucinda a sunflower kit -- she loves sunflowers. We planted the seeds and they're now sprouting in a pot in our kitchen window.
After breakfast, we headed outside because they heard that the Easter Bunny had hidden eggs in the backyard. They LOVED the egg hunt!
That afternoon, we went to the circus. I bought half-price tickets the previous month, not realizing it was Easter Sunday, but it worked out really well. Since we were heading up to Pittsburgh the next weekend for Taylor's first birthday party, we were on our own for Easter and it was a fun way to spend the afternoon.
The kids made it about 45 minutes (who knew the circus lasted over 2 hours!!) and by their 6th potty trip, we knew it was time to head out.
We wrapped up Easter with an impromptu neighborhood gathering. Malcolm and Lucinda had a blast climbing and riding all over Laura & Iain's rock pile while the grown ups enjoyed wine on a beautiful spring afternoon.
