Last weekend, we loaded up our new minivan and headed up to Pittsburgh to celebrate Pap Ross's 60th Birthday! The kids did really well in the car, with the help of Blues Clues and Yo Gabba Gabba.
We got to Grandma and Pap's house on Friday afternoon early enough to spend some time playing outside in the beautiful weather we had all weekend. Malcolm quickly made friends with Kimo, the dog, and Lucinda turned out to be a prodigy at the ring toss.
Lucinda also found the biggest ball ever, much to her delight!
Saturday was Pap's birthday party at Narcisi Winery. Malcolm and Lucinda particularly liked the balloons, the fountain, and the large grassy area outside where the band was playing.
The grown-ups particularly liked the wine tasting :)
While most people are content to receive gifts on their birthday, not Pap! He had special gifts for his sons and grandchildren, too. Matt's gift was extra "special" - Pap got this lovely shirt as a gift from his mother-in-law years ago, and now he's passed it on to Matt (who vowed immediately to pass it down to Malcolm in 30 years or so).
Sunday morning we headed to a local playground to burn off some energy before heading home.
The drive home generally went well, until Malcolm threw up all over himself about 10 minutes from home. :( Other than that lovely surprise, we had a great weekend, and are so glad we were able to see and spend time with everyone!
